What fighting style is this?
I’vr been looking for a new style to try out. I like fighting styles that use weapons mostly swords and other blades. I have seen video of people fighting holding a sword with the blade coming out of the bottom of their hand. My question is what style is this. Sadly the only picture i could find on google is from star wars so it kinda sucks but here it is. http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh357/fatalfrosthawk/the-secret-apprentice.jpg First to tell me what style this is gets best answer.
Ok but i want a style that has a continuous reverse grip on the blade.
Also how hard would it be to create my own fighting technique/Style to fit my needs here
There are many styles that use a reverse grip on a sword.
A lot of the Roppo Kuji no Biken cuts end up in a reverse grip, though the idea there seems more to be cutting in as normal and letting the wrist twist into a reverse grip (It makes sense if you just grip the tsuka with the top hand upside down…)
There’s also Kage no Kamae from Togakure-ryu, where the reverse grip is meant more to disguise the fact you have a sword or to hide what type of sword it is.
Like most kamae, Kage no Kamae is more useful as a transitional point than as a continuous grip.
To Maelani62, police are trained to shoot someone with a knife regardless of the grip they have… and it’s from a distance of 20 ft. or less since the knife wielder could clear that distance before the officer drew his firearm.
